Happy Halloween! This is my favorite holiday, by far, and I don’t even get time off work or school for it. I didn’t know if I would knit Z a costume this year. Last year I made her a mermaid tail. I thought about it for awhile and decided I would make her a lion costume.
I’m pretty pleased with it! I started out with a gauge swatch and some colors in mind. I knit until the armpits, then I had to decide whether I should divide for fronts and backs or do a raglan. I went with a raglan construction, then made a hood, ears, a mane, and a tail to go on her pants.
I decided to go ahead and write up the pattern. You can read about it here or buy now. It’s called Little Roarer. The hood was way too big for Z, so I’ll probably make that a bit more reasonably sized in the final product. It could have been worn by me or Matt. Luckily, it didn’t get in her way too much. I expected more of this:
